Feng shui is a traditional practice for arranging your surroundings. We write about it honestly, including which parts have a physical basis and which are symbolic. It cannot cure illness, fix a structural fault or predict the future, and nothing on this site should be used as a substitute for qualified professional advice.
On the nature of feng shui
Feng shui is a traditional Chinese practice, not a science, and we present it as such. We do not claim that qi is a measurable physical phenomenon, that a colour or an object attracts money in any verifiable sense, or that a layout can influence events in a person's life. Where a feng shui rule corresponds to something real — light, ventilation, acoustics, sightlines, ergonomic proportion, the psychological effect of clutter — we say so and give you the measurable version.
Where a rule is symbolic or traditional, we say that too. Some readers find the symbolic layer meaningful and some do not; the physical layer is useful either way.
On the tools
The calculators on this site perform fixed arithmetic derived from classical formulas: the kua number rules, the Lo Shu flying order, the bagua palace map, the five-element relationships. These have deterministic outputs and we have tested them against published reference tables.
They do not read your home. They take the inputs you give them and apply a rule. A flying star chart computed for 2026 is identical for every building on earth that year. Always verify a directional reading with your own compass, and treat a tool output as a starting point for a decision rather than the decision itself.
No substitute for professional advice
Nothing on this Site is:
- medical, psychological, mental-health or nutritional advice;
- legal, tax, financial or investment advice;
- structural, architectural, surveying, electrical, plumbing, gas or engineering advice;
- advice on the safe installation of anything, including water features, mirrors, lighting and electrical fittings.
Removing a load-bearing wall because a beam crosses it, rewiring a property because of a direction, or installing a large water feature on a floor you have not had assessed can cause serious harm. Talk to a qualified professional first. For health concerns, talk to a doctor.
On physical safety in the home
Some feng shui recommendations involve physical objects. A water feature needs a proper waterproofed base, drainage and a safe water treatment regime. A heavy object on a beam needs to be within its safe load. Mirrors and glass need to be fixed properly. Check the manufacturer's instructions and your home's structure, and use an electrician or plumber rather than assuming.
We are not liable for damage arising from changes you make to your property based on anything published here.
On money, health and relationships
No feng shui arrangement will make you rich, cure an illness, save a relationship or resolve a legal dispute. If you are facing any of those, they need a professional, not a decorative object. Feng shui is a way of thinking about space, and we think that is genuinely worthwhile — but it is a way of thinking, not a mechanism for altering outcomes.
On predictions
We do not publish horoscopes, forecasts or predictions, and we do not sell readings of any kind. Our guide to online psychic readings exists to help consumers spot bad practice, and it says plainly what we think of the industry rather than endorsing it.
On the age of this content
Some content here is time-sensitive by nature: flying star charts and lucky colours change each year, and Chinese New Year guidance resets with the lunar calendar. Each page carries the date it was last reviewed. If you are reading a guide from several years ago about an annual chart, treat it as history.
